One canceled Apple project might change how you see AI.

The funny thing about technology is...

The biggest winners don't always look like winners at first.

Apple spent years building a self-driving car that never reached the road. Most people called it a failure. Now we're learning that some of the technology behind it helped shape Apple's AI future.

It's a good reminder that in tech, today's failure has a habit of becoming tomorrow's advantage.

Here's What's Inside This Edition:

  • How Apple's biggest failure paid off

  • GPT-5.6 overtakes Claude

  • Why Lorde roasted AI glasses

  • Apple takes OpenAI to court

  • Meta's AI feature backfires

  • The best free ChatGPT alternatives

  • Claim up to $5,000 in AWS credits

  • Three AI tools to grow your business

⚡ Meanwhile in AI

At a music festival in Madrid, Lorde paused her performance to deliver an unexpected message: "Don't get the glasses. Not sexy." Her comments were widely seen as a jab at Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses, adding another celebrity voice to the growing debate around wearable AI.

Building great AI is one challenge. Convincing people to actually wear it every day might be even harder.

Apple never shipped its self-driving car.

But the technology built for that project didn't disappear. It helped shape the Neural Engine that powers Apple Intelligence today, turning one of the company's biggest failures into one of its most important AI foundations.

Sometimes the products that never launch end up influencing the ones millions of people use.

The internet pushed back, and Meta listened. Just days after introducing a feature that let people generate AI images using public Instagram accounts, Meta pulled it following widespread criticism over privacy and consent.

AI features can launch overnight. Public trust usually takes much longer to earn.

The partnership that brought ChatGPT to the iPhone has taken a dramatic turn.

Apple is suing OpenAI, accusing the company of orchestrating a campaign to obtain confidential hardware information through former employees. OpenAI has denied the allegations, setting the stage for one of the biggest legal battles in AI so far.

The next big AI competition may be fought in courtrooms as much as in model benchmarks.

The AI leaderboard doesn't stay still for long.

Just weeks after its launch, GPT-5.6 Sol has climbed to the top of Design Arena, overtaking Claude Fable 5 to become the highest-ranked model for frontend design. It also posted one of the biggest jumps in recent memory, climbing 18 places while setting a new benchmark for balancing speed and quality.

Winning the leaderboard is one thing. Staying there is where the real competition begins.

It always happens at the worst possible moment.

You're halfway through a project, finally making progress... then ChatGPT stops and tells you to come back in a few hours.

Instead of paying $20 and moving on, one creator spent an entire week testing the best free alternatives to see which ones actually deserve a place in your workflow. From research and writing to coding and everyday tasks, the results show you don't always need a paid subscription to get great AI.

That makes the next time you hit the limit a little less frustrating.
